Let’s say it’s late April with the beauty of spring everywhere while you’re looking to buy your dream home. You find a perfect one online and get a showing scheduled. When you pull up you are struck with how beautiful the yard is. The lawn looks perfect —thick, lush, no weeds. You’re already sold even before you get inside. As it turns out, the interior is every bit as attractive. You sign a contract that day.
Two months later, it’s move-in day. You pull up to your dream home and, to your horror, you find the lawn looks hideous. It has loads of these light green, triangular shaped leaves shooting out like little fountains all over the place. They have pushed up 3 to 4 inches above the otherwise beautiful bluegrass turf, looking as ridiculous as corn sprouting up randomly in a field of soybeans. What happened to your show place yard?

Congratulations! You have inherited the lawn problem that has no solution. Nutsedge! Go ahead, buy all the expensive products that claim “control” of nutsedge in turf grass. I hate to tell you, the results will be nominal and temporary. I’ve given up! Maybe you won’t, and these chemical companies will make more money off of you.
So, my expert advice for the homeowner with a nutgrass infested lawn, who wants a gorgeous lawn in the summer and fall, — SELL!!! But, make sure you go shopping for your new home in July and August.
